Zuri is a rental management tool used by landlords to manage properties, tenants and rent. This page explains what information is handled and why.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email and a securely hashed password.
- Booking requests: if you ask to book a vacant unit, the name, phone number, email, move-in date and message you enter, which are shown only to the landlord.
- Tenancy records entered by the landlord: tenant name, phone number, ID number, unit, rent, deposit and move-in dates.
- Payments and repairs: amounts, dates, M-Pesa references, and maintenance requests.
How it is used
- To run the service: show balances, record payments, and let tenants view their own portal.
- To send SMS payment confirmations and reminders to tenants.
Who can see it
Landlords see the records for their properties. A tenant can only see their own portal. We do not sell personal information.
Service providers
Data is stored in a managed Redis database and hosted on Vercel. M-Pesa payments are received from Safaricom, and SMS is sent through Africa's Talking.
Cookies
Zuri uses one essential sign-in cookie. It keeps you signed in for up to 7 days and is not used for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask your landlord to correct or delete your records. Landlords are responsible for having a lawful basis to hold their tenants' information, including under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
Contact
